By Molly Nier, Rochester, NY USMy second PROM story unfortunately had the same outcome as my first. Another angel in heaven. Because of my previous PROM I was extremely concerned it would happen again but was told my chances were good that it would not. I did alot of research and could not find much reason for why this happens. I did nothing different except tried to limit myself to not doing alot of strenuous activities. Well again, my water broke. This time I knew what was happening to me and I was devistated--I had no hope. We went to the hospital and the did a speculum exam and I was told I had cord prolapse and that I would need to be induced. They let me wait until the next morning so I could try to get some sleep. I was induced and on Oct 11, 1999 my son Edward Joseph was born. I again held my baby and will always remember how he felt. My mother arranged to have him buried next to my daughter. Now I have two angels--how can my heart bear this loss? In my research I found this site in Jan 2000 and joined the email list and met alot of wonderful ladies that understand my situaion. I have learned alot and got alot of comfort here. Many on the list told me I sounded like a classic case of Incompetent Cervix. When I went back to my OB I questioned him about this and he said NO, that was not the case with me because when they did the speculum exams when I came in, that my cervix was closed. I later found that my cervix could funnel from the top and would not be seen by a speculum exam. Now I had something to work with for my next pregnancy. When my friends and family found out that I was planning on getting pregnant again they were amazed that I was. When you want to have children as much as I do, you will do whatever it takes.
