WILLIAM, born after PPROM 15+4w and
21w.
I want to tell my story of a miracle-
boy that made it!!
I have had 3 PPROM-pregnancies, in
2004, 2005 and 2006.
My baby-boy William is our only
surviver. The stories about our two
angles, Vilde and Vetle, is published
at PROM at 17weeks and PROM at
18weeks.
THE PREGNANCY
I got pregnant with William in may
2006. Started bleeding in week 8-9, as
with my other two PPROM-
pregnancies.
I had an hematoma in the uterus, which
caused med to bleed old blood for
weeks. I believe it is the cause of
all my PPROMs....
At 15weeks 4 days I ruptured. Got
hospitalized for 2 weeks. I put myself
on strict bedrest, only getting up to
go to the bathroom. Started drinking
lots of water (3l pr day), taking 1g
of vitamine C every day.
MIRACLE
A miracle happened! After a full
rupture, with NO fluid left, I
resealed right away!! I slowly built
up fluid, until I had normal amount
again.
I went home, and stayed at bedrest
there, for 3 weeks.
RE-RUPTURE
At 21 weeks I re-ruptured again, after
William kicking really hard for some
days. I got hospitalized again, and
stayed there for the next 8 weeks,
until birth.
I had AFI from 2-8cm during the next 8
weeks. Baby growing perfectly normal,
showing no signs of stress.
I was fortunate to have a doctor that
supported me all the way!
BIRTH
At 28weeks 5 days, I got into labour,
without any signs of infection.
William was born at 28w6d. He was
1242g and 40cm. He was very sick, with
an apgar of 3-6-7. He took a breath at
first, but then he stopped breathing.
He needed to be on a ventilator,
getting NO-gas and surfactant.
HOSPITAL STAY
He was on ventilator for 5 days, after
that on CPAP for 10 weeks. He got 2
infections, none of them making him
very ill. Was back on ventilator for 3
days during one of them.
After 10 weeks on CPAP he got oxygen
from a nasal-cannula.
HOME
After 13 weeks on hospital he came
home! Now weighing 3368g, and beeing
49,5cm!
We could have come home earlier, but I
was too afraid.... He still needs o2,
but very little. Only 0,16l/min. We
believe he will be off it in some
weeks time.
I wanted to share my story, because it
is a true miracle!! William is here
now because of his two angel-ciblings!
We terminated their pregnancies, but
we could not do it a third time... We
had to give William a chance, and he
made it!
