This is my PPROM update. Although I
still mourn the loss of my first son,
Luca, I am so proud to now be the
mother of two beautiful PAP sons. My
first pregnancy after PROM was a very
non-eventful pregnancy. I was watched
constantly for I/C but nothing was
ever found during that pregnany that
gave any indication as to why I
prommed with Luca. My beautiful son
Gabriel was born in Sept. of 2003 at
36 weeks. He was delivered early by
scheduled c-section because my PROM
pregnancy resulted in an emergency c-
section and I was not able to have a
VBAC.
I became pregnant again in June of
2005 and was thrilled as my husband
and I had not really planned on having
another child. After losing Luca and
then subsequently being blessed with a
healthy child, we felt that maybe we
should be thankful for what we had. We
are both in our early 40's so there
was a factor of age that also was to
be considered. Finding out that we
were pregnant however, made us think
that maybe God had a different plan
for us! I really didn't want to
believe it and felt that somehow we
would end up losing the baby but we
had another pretty normal pregnancy
and were blessed once again with a
beautiful healthy boy who is named
Anthony.
I still don't know the reasons why I
prommed with Luca. It bothered me in
the beginning when doctors would say
it was just a fluke. We all know that
there must have been a reason but we
will most likely never know why. I do
know that if Luca had survived, my
little Anthony would not be here today
and I can't imagine my world without
him. For reasons I cannot explain
here,I sometimes feel that he is our
little Luca who has returned to us.
For all of us PROM queens, being PAP
is a very scarey thing. There was a
time when I really thought that I
wasn't meant to have children - now I
know that I wasn't meant to have a
life without them.
For those looking for strength and a
message of hope - this is it. It can
happen.
