After having my first child at 35 weeks 5 days, I knew this next one would be a little early as well. I was due April 15th, and I was hoping to have a St. Patty's Day baby!!! She had different ideas . . .

On February 18th, after cleaning my house, I went to the bathroom. As I stood up, I felt a small trickle (just like with my son). I put on a pad and rushed to the hospital. I was leaking tons of fluid.

When I got up to L&D, they did an ultrasound. They found that I had little to no fluid around the baby, but she had turned from the breech position. Because I was only 33 weeks 4 days, they transferred me to another hospital.

My new doctor said that he wouldn't help my labor progress, but he wouldn't stop it, either. I labored for about 14 hours, and the doctor realized that my daughter wasn't waiting. So they started pitocin.

Five hours after that, my daughter was born. She was 5 lbs 2 oz (not too bad, but I had gestational diabetes as well), and immediately whisked off to NICU.

She was on the CPAP for the first couple hours of life. By the time I got to go see her, she was breathing room air.

She did have to stay in the NICU for jaundice, blood sugar levels off, suck/swallow/breath (preemie) issues, and she wouldn't eat at all due to the jaundice and preemie issues.

My husband was in Afghanistan at the time, and he flew back as soon as he could. She was 3 days old when he arrived. We begged and pleaded with them to let us take our daughter home since my husband only had 2 weeks to spend with us before going back. At one week old, they let her come home. She was 4 1/2 lbs. She is now a very healthy 2 year old.

The first PROM, they also discovered a UTI. That could be a reason for PROM, but we will never know for sure. With the second PROM, I had no infection. So we are clueless and worried about subsequent pregnancies!!

We are very blessed to have had 2 PROM's (35 and 33 weeks) and have 2 healthy children.
