We were away on holiday for a weekend when PROM occurred at 4am, for no apparent reason, when I was 27 weeks preg. We drove to the nearest hospital, which was a small country hospital, and were then advised to continue to the nearest major hospital with a NICU. It was hoped I could stay on bedrest and deliver at around 33 weeks, however my daughter had to be born at 27 weeks due to chorioamnioitis and an ultrasound which showed lack of foetal movement. Emily spent just over 3 months in NICU/Special Care and came home just after her due date. My daughter is now 19 months old and doing really well, apart from being a bit lightweight compared to a full-term baby.
