Lakshmi's Post PROM Story

By Lakshmi, Boston, MA USA
PROM at 14 weeks + 6 days. Delivery at 37 weeks + 2 days.
Story added: 2014-09-06
I lost twins to pprom in 2012. You can find my pprom story here under 14 week pprom. The autopsy showed baby a was actually a girl. Baby b was a boy. In 2013 we tried again and it was twins AGAIN! Baby a was a girl, baby b was a boy just like last time. Same gender, same positioning. I had bleeding at 12 weeks this time, but very mild compared to my pprom pregnancy. The bleeding resolved itself on its own in 2-3 days. The pregnancy proceeded normally and I did not rupture. I carried the babies until 37 weeks 2 days when I was induced. They were born healthy and are now two months old. To me it is as if I got my babies back. I am so grateful. I hope this story helps others. I remember after my loss I needed to read stories like this to know it is possible to have a pregnancy go to term without pprom... even a multiple pregnancy. I also remember wondering what I could have done differently. I'll share what I did in hopes it might help others. I took it very easy. I did not lift anything heavy. I avoided stairs. I avoided bending down. If I had to, I would squat to get something. I ate a lot of yogurt and probiotic smoothies to help minimize risk of infection. I showered daily with unscented, organic soap. I washed all my clothes and towels using hypoallergenic soap. I limited my showers to 10 minutes with warm, not hot water. I did not take baths or go in any pool/beach. I used 100% cotton underwear. I used wipes after passing stools. I took Whole Foods prenatal vitamins and Carlsons Fish Oil. I was seen by a MFM Doctor every two weeks until 24 weeks, then weekly. I did relaxation meditations every night to help cope with stress and worry. No sex.. sorry husband! I drank lots of cranberry juice, orange juice, milk. And my motto was, "Worry is the greatest thief of joy!" Good luck to all of you and wish you all many rainbows.
