Story added: 2013-12-27
At 23 weeks and 5 days pregnant, I was working from home one friday and felt a gush of water. I knew immediately that something was not right. I dialled an ambulance & they took me straight to maternity triage. I was examined & told my fluid had gone, there was 1mm of fluid left. I was told my cervix had not opened but it was very likely I would go into labour within 48 hours, and as I wasn't at 'viable' stage, there would be no attempt to resuscitate my baby. I was admitted to hospital, given antibiotics as a precaution for infection and steroid injections. Finally 48 hours arrived and no sign of labour, so after much begging I was allowed to go home on strict rest. I continued losing fluid daily, and had to attend hospital twice a week for full bloods to check for infection & CTG monitoring. A csection was scheduled for 34 weeks but at a growth scan at 32 weeks, Drs were concerned that the fluid was at 0. I was monitored closely and it was decided to give me a csection at 32 weeks 3 days. My miracle boy spent 5 weeks in NICU, he was on oxygen for 26 days, and was a little fighter. He is now 6 months old and a joy. Anyone out there going through this please do not give up hope and do not let Drs negativity get you down xx
