It was Nov. 4 1995. I woke up in great anticipation as it was my first born's first birthday (I was also 4 months pregnant). I had a busy day of birthday plans ahead of me.
I woke up at 6 a.m. and got out of bed. That's when it happened. My water broke. I was very scared as my first pregnancy had been text book.
We went to the hospital and there they confirmed my worst nightmare. Through several ultra sounds I saw her. Her heart beat normal. I saw my baby. She was everything she was supposed to be at 4 months, just very compromised by the lack of fluid. They wanted me to induce labor as they said there was no hope for my baby. I just couldn't do it. My doctor complied with my wishes and kept me in the hospital where they could monitor me and the baby.
48 hours later she was born. My Micala Marie 10 inches long weighing 11 1/2 ounces. She lived for one hour. We held her and loved her...then we let her go. Never far from our hearts.
My doctor told me this was just a freak incident and that he didn't think we should concern ourselves with future pregnancies. Little did he know what the future held for us.
