I was pregnant with twins (each in a different sac) and I started leaking amniotic fluid at 27 wk 0 days. My doctor told me to have bed rest at home and was hoping that the tear would possibly heal itself, which it seemed to do over the next couple of days as at 28 wk 4 days, I went for an ultrasound and both babies had enough amniotic fluid. However, the next day I started bleeding, not very heavy, but enough. Again my doctor told me to stay at home on bed rest. At 28 wk 0 days, the bleeding became heavier and I went to the hospital and stayed on bed rest there. At 28 wk 6 days, I started having contractions and my girls were born that night weighing 1.15 kg each. I and both of them had an infection, and the twin that had had the leak and detachment of the placenta was born with cardiac arrest. She died two days later due to the infection as well as closed lungs. May she be a guardian angel for her twin who is doing better. At 34 wk gestation, she is now at 1.72 kg and should be home in 3-4 weeks. I dont know if the infection caused my water to break or if the infection came later. They did blood tests of me every 3 days and nothing came up, however I had a fever the day I gave birth as well as fever for days afterwards. Only God knows what caused my water to break, which started everything...
