Story added: 2010-05-25
My roller coaster ride started at conception - 3 pregnancy tested showed I was pregnant - blood test showed I was not pregnant - after more spotting - another blood test confirmed I was pregnant. At 13 weeks I had a nuchal translucency test to check for babys age, abnormalities etc and it came back I had abnormal hormone levels and increased risk of carrying a child with down syndrome, Trisomy 18 and 21. This was quite a shock - my 1st pregnancy was textbook.
I then had a CVS test - which I believe may have contributed to my pprom. The test came back negative and all was fine with my little boy.
At 19 weeks - I started spotting- went to hospital and had an ultrasound which confirmed I had a low laying placenta. I was then told to take it easy - not bed rest at this stage.
1 weeks later while having a coffee - I felt a gush of fluid - went to the bathroom - I could not believe my eyes - my waters had broke.Back to the hospital - I was told it was pprom and to expect to lose the baby over the next 72 hours. I was in a state of shock - I stayed in hospital for a week and baby was fine the whole time.
I was told I could go home but was on strict bed rest. For the next 6 weeks i was in and out of hospital between loss of fluid to loss of blood as by this stage it was confirmed I had level 4 placenta previa - I could heamorrage at any time so any loss of blood meant a trip to hospital until the bleeding stopped.

At 26 weeks 3 days I awoke one night in a pool of blood - no pain though - headed into hospital and stayed for the next 3 days - non stop bleeding - during the whole time my baby was fine - good strong heartbeat - I then went into labour and had Patrick via emergency c section. For the next 3 months - Patrick was in hospital and our roller coaster ride continued. At 38 weeks gestation - patrick came out - no oxygen with the only instruction to give him pentavite. Patrick is now 13 months corrected and 15 months actual and a true blessing from God. I truly believe God has a plan for all of us and we just need to believe to get through. Just remember everything passes - it may make your world going round a little wobbly but it will right itself eventually.
