By Louise, Watford, Hertfordshire EnglandMy water broke at 20 weeks , was taken straight to hospital where they checked my cervix , I had started to dialate , Had blood tests done and some internal swabbings , got moved to a room and had more blood taken and more examinations . I asked if I could hear the baby and the heartbeat was very strong . Lots of different doctors and specialists came and went over a four hour period . was given 3 options , Option 1 ; Stay in hospital until I reached 31 weeks but may not last that long and baby would have severe learning difficulties , breathing problems and may even be to week to survive . Option 2 ; go home and and rest , your body may naturally go into labour and come back when it starts to happen .Option 3 ; Have the pregnancy induced with drugs and deliver baby that day . I sat and talked it through with my partner and phoned the family and asked them about my options , They were a great help as I felt I was letting everyone down and making the wrong decisions , They all assured me I had made the right choice . I went for option 3 . I felt that my baby had no hope and doctors said it was highly unlikly that baby would survive , they explained all the things that can go wrong as the baby is so underdeveloped . I made my choice went through an agonising 3 hour labour , lots of bleeding and extreme pain . At 04:27am 18th Jan 2010 my baby Girl Lily was born , I held her for only a few minutes but will remember that moment for the rest of my life .
