By Shannon Martinez, AZ USAI already had a 4 year son that I had a normal pregnancy and delivery at 40 weeks. Me and my husband wanted another baby and got pregnant right away. At 9 weeks I started bleeding and went to ER. They checked baby and everything was fine. My OB said she didn't need to see me and that bleeding in first trimester is normal. At 14 weeks I had bleeding again but it was old blood. Again went to ER(we live an hour and a half from any OB's or hospitals that will deliver babies)and they checked baby again and said everything looked ok. This time my OB sent me for ultrasound and they found a hematoma where my placenta pulled apart from my uterus. OB said it could heal itself and that I didn't need to do anything different. It did start to close up and we thought everything would be ok. At 4am on a Wed morning when I was 28 weeks I noticed leaking. I went to ER and was ambulanced up to hospital where i found out my water broke. No one could tell me why it broke early, no infections and doctors didn't know why. I had no contractions and they gave me steriods for my babies lungs. I was in hospital for almost 4 weeks before I started contracting and my son was delivered at 31 wks and 2 days by c-section at 3lbs 14oz and 16 in long. He came out crying with apgar score of 9. He stayed in NICU for 4 weeks before coming home but never had to be put on any breathing machines. The whole thing was very scary for our family but we are very lucky he is here. Hope our story helps.
