By Michelle Beserock, Leesburg,FL USAI was 16 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child when in the middle of the night I woke up soaking wet. I was scared and at the time was living with my mother who immediately rushed me to the hospital. I went in and told them that I thought my water had broken, the intern that was on duty that night did a physical exam and blood work and said everything looked good, nothing seemed wrong and that the baby probably kicked my bladder and I had urinated on myself. I was not having contractions or in any pain so I concurred and was sent home at 6:30 that morning. Two weeks went by and my stepfather died suddenly of a heart attack at home and while the paramedics were asking me questions in the kitchen I felt the wetness again. Figuring what was going on that I was just distressed and had wet myself, so I excused myself and changed. I was upset and decided later that day to take a bath because I was feeling a little achy in my belly. Big mistake you NEVER take a bath after your water has leaked!!!! I ended up getting an infection and going into labor at 24 weeks. I was admitted and given medicine to stop contractions and to speed the baby's lung development, none of which worked. In the end the infection was too much for her fragile little body to handle and she died 2 hrs after birth. I am comforted to know that she is in Heaven and loved.
PROM at 20 weeks + 1 days. Delivery at 24 weeks + 1 days.
