By Kim, Argyle, TX USAFor my first pregnancy I was induced at 37 weeks 5 days due to pre- eclampsia. Two years later when I got pregnant with my second son I decided to be seen by a high risk OB. This was the best decision I made but not for the reasons I thought at the time. I was carefully monitored for fetal growth, blood pressures and any signs of pre-e. During my 30th week I went to Labor and Delivery because of contractions. I was discharged because my cervix was closed and the contractions were only a few an hour. A few weeks later at I was in my 33rd week my water broke. I went to Labor and Delivery again. I was put on Mag Sulfate and given steroids for the baby's lungs. I was not dialted and was started on antibiotics to prevent infection. I was able to stay pregnant for another 10 days. My son was born on the moring of my 11th day after PROM. He was 5lbs 15 ozs and thankfully very healthy. He sayed in the NICU for only 4 days due to feeding issues. I give tremendous credit to my OB who was able to do everything in his power to keep me pregnant as long as it was safe for my baby and myself.
PROM at 33 weeks + 3 days. Delivery at 34 weeks + 5 days.
