I had a m'c in 2004 & a perfect preganancy on my 2nd child in 2005 so didn't expect this one to be any different....but how wrong was i.
I had crampy pains from 6wks so i was really worried i would m/c again but they did an u/s & everything appeared ok. i started to have a brownish bleed at 12wks so again i went to hosp had u/s & baby was ok so they told me it was probably old.....I had a small gush of fluid on 12th April whilst getting ready for work & wasn't sure what it was so went into work anyway....2hrs later i had a massive gush of fluid went to hosp i was examined & told it was my waters & to prepare for the worst that the baby was very unlikley to make it through the next 24hrs....we were devastated but as the next few days passed we were very hopeful!!!
the closer to 24 wks the better as they wouldn't be able to do anything for the baby if he was born before that.
I was kept in for 12 more days at which point the fluid had stopped leaking & they just told me to take it easy, which is easier said than done with a 3yr old.
i was put on weekly visits with an u/s every 2nd wk until i went in for a check up on the 3rd June and had a massive bleed in the waiting room so i was brought to delivery suite.
The bleeding stopped the next day so i was moved to a ward beside d/s the pinkish fluid draining continued over next 7days & the docs told me it might be the placenta coming away, also the u's confirmed i was anihydromnious (no fluid)& we would just have to wait an see!!during that week i also had a biophysical scan & was told that the babys lungs were developed for gestation but they were v wrong. The Saturday followin that i had another massive bleed & was moved to d/s again to be monitored but again it stopped after about 12hrs.....on the 13th June at about 9pm i began having mild contractions so i was given pethedine for the pain which seemed to have stopped it but the following night they began again at exactly 9pm the doc checked an said i was 3cm so i was rushed to o/r for emergency section as the baby was breech & there was no fluid..
My beautiful son was born 15th June @ 22:37hr made a little cry & we saw him for a moment before he was wisked away. it was about 2am & the peadiatric nurses came in from NICU & said they had worked as best they could to save him but they could just not get oxygen into his lungs i waited for my partner to come bk as he was only 10mins away & we went to see him.he was perfect, gorgeous his little heart stopped beating at 05:57.
He is an Angel now an we will never forget him he will always be in our hearts & thoughts!! i think this world is very cruel i dont think we will ever heal!! my heart aches for anyone going through this & hope there is more research done to prevent this from happening!
