I was just standing there, waiting in line for lunch at burger king when my water broke.
I called my husband at work and asked what I should do, he said "Go to the hospital, I'll meet you there" and he showed up at the same time I did.
My Dr. was kind, but he gave us the straight dope about what the most likely outcomes were. We stayed in the hospital that night...we stayed in the hospital for four nights, actually, and nothing happened.
We went and sought a specialist the day after I was released from my local hospital (We happen to reside in a city with the finest NICU in the world, along with a team of extraordinary high-risk ob-gyns)
They said they would take us at 23 weeks, but, hopefully, later.
Unfortunetly, at 23 weeks and 0 days, I started having pretty bad contractions.
We went to the hospital. They started amnioinfusion, antibiotics, and gave me steroid shots....all for naught; the contractions kept squeezing the cord and our baby's heartbeat was not doing so well. He kept bouncing back though.
At three in the morning, a day later, our son, Sol's heart stopped.
