By Melody, Indianapolis, IN USAthis was our 4th pregnancy, our 3 other were very early losses. We found out we were pregnant after using follistim/femara combination as a fertility treatment. We had hemorrhages at 6, 9 and 12 weeks and at 13 weeks my doc suggested a cerclage and went forward to have this done at 13 wks +4 days. Everything seemed fine until after my followup appointment at 14 wks +0 days and afterwards I noticed I was wet...i assumed it was the jelly they use in the office. but then later that night I was leaking enough to notice it wasn't jelly and called the doc. The next morning I went to triage at the hospital and the ultrasound showed low fluid but still looked like it could be ok. I had a follow up ultrasound 2 days later and we were crushed. our baby that had been bouncing around a couple days earlier now had no fluid and could not move. I remained on bedrest for a bit. At 17 wks +0 day I had morning sickness and managed to throw my back out of whack and really wasn't too concerned until I started bleeding a bit...called the doc again and back to triage that night they did an ultrasound...still looked ok. The next day when I went to use the bathroom I went to wipe and notice something..felt down and the cord was there...called the doc again and again went to triage. they confirmed what we already knew and sent me to the high risk unit to induce labor. On thanksgiving morning we delivered our poor baby...he didn't even have a chance really. Nothing really prepares you for something like this. We knew this could happen and we tried to prepare ourselves for it but nothing will. We held him, had the chaplain bless him. We know we did everything we could it just wasn't enough. I think if I might have done anything different I would have terminated the pregnancy once they confirmed my water broke and spared myself the 3 weeks of worry and bedrest and feeling helpless.
PROM at 14 weeksDelivery at 17 weeks + 3 days.
