Meagan's PROM Story

Story added: 2007-09-10
I started out with a very heathy pregnancy. All tests and measurements were right on target. At 18 weeks, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that my water had broken. For about three weeks preceeding this, I had noted scant bleeding, but was told this was normal and related to a benign cyst. I went to the hospital, had an ultrasound and fern test and was told everything was normal, to go home on bed rest for two days and then resume normal activity. Halfway through my 21st week, I noted lower abdominal cramping and tightening. I again went to the hospital, but was told this time, I had no amniotic fluid remaining, but my baby was still alive. I was transferred to another hospital which specialized in high risk pregnancies and had a NICU staffed by the Childrens hospital. I was to meet with the high risk Dr. the following day, however I started having regular contractions at 0300, was examined and told that I was three cm dialated and that there is not much they can do as I already had an infection that could potentially threaten my life as well as my baby's. No effort was made to stop or stall my labor. I gave birth to our beautiful little Taylor Marie Easter Monday. She was alive when she was born and moved her mouth and arms and legs for us to see. She died shortly after and is now in the Lords hands. We got to steal a few precious moments with her and have many momentos to remember her by, thanks to the hospital nurses and staff. It has now been 5 months since we lost her, but we are now trying again. I share the same fears and anxieties all of you are feeling, but I've cast those fears to the Lord and I know that he will bless us when his timing is right.
