By Becky, Mena, Arkansas UsaMy name is Rebecca and Im 27 years old. I have PCOS which causes infertlily and was never able to concieve. After 7 years I lost 55 lbs and out of the blue i got pregnant. I was excited. All went fine then about 14-15 weeks I started noticing small amounts of watery discharge. I went to ER and they did U/S and it was ok and sent me home with Antibiotics for bacterial infection. I told my doctor and he said some discharge is normal. But it continued. At 21 weeks 2 days. I was at work and I felt a gush and went to toliet and noticed that I was leaking and dialated almost 1 cm. I went to hospital (sunday) and they tested and it was AF. My doctor showed right up and they admitted me for observation in case I started labor and did U/S. They said there was enough fluid around the baby. I never went into labor. My doctor sent me home on strict bedrest. I was a mess and crying I knew it was over but my doctor stayed on the positve side and instructed me on the bedrest. So my bf moved my bed down stairs in the Living room and there i camped in from of TV. He waited on me hand and foot. I got up only to pee, took my temp 3 times a day, showered once a week, drank gallons of water and drove my doctor and the OB nurses crazy with my constant calling. and I worried and prayed 24/7. As long as i remained perfectily still I didnt leak. AT my 25 week U/S, My fluid was norma it seemed to have resealed.and I found out i was having a boy. By week 28 I started Steriod injections in case of preterm labor. My doctor said if made it to 34 weeks i could deliever here (small town hosp) if before I would have to go to little rock which is 3 hours away. At about 32 weeks I started leaking a bit more probable due to baby getting bigger. finally I hit 36 weeks and my doctor scheduled me for induction. After 14 hours of labor and a c section I had a perfectly healthy baby boy. 6 lb. 4 oz. The greatest sound was hearing him cry when doctor removed him from by belly. we named him Dalton Gene Lee. My doctor even said he was a miracle and I was so lucky that infection didnt set in or experienced any other complications. My doctor was so wonderful to stay positve and caring. about 13 weeks i had brochitis, flu, about 15 weeks i had UTI and also bacterial infection. I wondered if these contributied to my water breaking or the fact of my infertility. My doctor said no one really knows what causes it. I hope my story can give hope to those who are my situation.
