By Wendy M, Wisconsin USAI had just gotten home from a training class in Jacksonville, FL. Actually, got home on our 4th wedding anniversary.... Up until then I'd enjoyed a perfectly normal and healthy pregnancy. I'll always wonder if the flight had anything to do with my PPROM.
PROM at 32 weeks + 3 days. Delivery at 34 weeks.

I had my Dr's permission to make the flight, although flying didn't feel good. I had some sharp pains and my feet swelled like crazy (only time during my entire PG).
At approximately 2 AM, on 4/29/05, I felt a little gush. Thought it might be some incontinence, but I think at that point I really knew what had happened. I layed motionless for the next 3 hours, and felt another little gush when I rolled over at 5 AM. Got up to use the bathroom and continued to leak a little.... I was pretty sure my water had broken.
I contacted my Dr. and he had me come into the clinic first thing. He confirmed the bag was broken, and I was admitted to the hospital for bedrest. Immediately got steroid injections (OUCH!).
Long story short, I was induced at 33+6 weeks, after 10 days of bedrest. James was born at 34 weeks after 2.5 long hours of pushing, on 5/10/05. He came out pink and screaming! APGAR was 9&10. He weighed a whopping 6lbs 1ounce. AND HE CAME HOME WITH US!
Today he is a healthy, happy 14 month old with plenty of personality, toddling all over! We were so blessed... He never "acted" like a premie. In Afterwards, I started to learn about all the things that could have gone wrong....and understand what a miracle he is!
Now, we are TTC#2 and I admit to being very nervous. My Dr. has already talked to me a little about progesterone injections, more frequent ultrasounds. Time will tell....
