On the morning of June 17th, I saw my 20 wk pregnant wife waking up with extreme cramps and she also mentioned she had few spottings and minimal water drain. We immediatly rushed to hospital only to hear the sad news that she has got PROM and advised to terminate the pregnancy. The doctor straight away put her on erythromicin and admitted in hospital and asked to wait for 48 hrs if any miracle happens. The situation was getting better with time with pains reducing and less leakages and we all thought that she was improving. But still the doctor was discourgaging after 48 hrs saying that improvement is not sufficient and asked us to do ultrasound to check water level. It measured 11.2 sq.com (one single Pocket)The normal level is 15-25 itseems. We asked her to wait for one more hour to see if it seals by itself . But to our continued devastation, the 3rd day night was horrible and my wife had heavy pains and leakages. I had no other option than to give a termination sentence to my 5 month old baby- trust me once of the worst pains that a person can suffer. The doctors eventually took her to a labour room and terminated the foetus, what could have been a lovely boy had he sustained 4 more months inside the womb. All of us were terribly shattered and never knew life could turn so cruel in less than 72 hours.
