By Tracy, USAOn April 24th, 1999 my water broke while in the bathroom. I was 22weeks 1 pg. I was rushed to the hospital with contractions every 2 minutes. I didn't have any pain at all. The ultra sound revealed no fluid. I opted to take the Magnesium Sulfate for about 12 hours to stop the contractions.
PROM at 22 weeksDelivery at 23 weeks.
Story added: 1999-05-09
They stopped and I was sent to a room where I was told the grim outlook and that I would be there until I delivered. The next week I continued to make fluid and leak fluid. Exactly one week later I went into labor. I didn't say anything to anyone until the contractions were about 2 mins apart. They were extremely painful but I didn't want to believe this was actually labor. On May 1, 1999 I delivered my first born son John, weighing 1lb 2oz. He was perfect but he didn't have any lungs. He died 4 hours later. We buried our son on May 5, 1999. I have had infertility for 11 years and this was my first pregnancy and our miracle baby. He was conceived on Gonal F and IUI. We were so thrilled to be pregnant.
I'm grieving a lot right now because this is very fresh but all I can think of is what to do about PROM and if there is another pregnancy how to sustain it. I would appreciate any information and support on PROM. I would love to hear any subsequent success stories after PROM.
Thanks,
Tracy
