By Calvin & Kishea, canton,Ms united statesIt took us a long long time to send this story, simply because we were scared of the outcome ourselves. We had tried to get pregnant for five years and finally it happen. A few weeks into the pregnancy tests revealed the presense of spina bifida only to be denied by a specialist. My wife's water broke in the 19th week of pregnancy and she was told if she got an infection, the baby would have to be delivered with no chance of survival. She was placed on complete bedrest and we prayed and cried day and night. The baby kept growing. She started to bleed around week 25 and was given steroids for the baby's lungs. The doctors suggested that she be placed in the hospital up until delivery. She stayed pregnant another week and started to dialate. She couldn't hold the baby any longer. The doctors rushed her into delivery and I hoped for the best and expected the worst! Calvin Jr. was born August 3rd, 2003 weighing 2lbs 2ouces. He stayed in NICU for 3 and a half months with severe setbacks. I am one of the few fathers who send a story but I just had to. He has had laser eye surgery and a hernia removed, other than that he is fine. Today he is 13months old and weighs 20 lbs! To God be the glory! It took many tears, much faith and prayer. To anyone out there who read this, never give up God is on your side. I hate it took us this long to send our story but I just wanted to make sure that our baby would make it!!
