By Maria Moreno, Santiago ChileSeptember the first 2003 me and my husband knew we were expecting a baby. Several times in December I lost amoniotic fluid without noticing it. December the 27 th my membranes ruptured and I was hospitalized, without any hope of a good result. I was treated with antibiotics and was tested for infections several times every week. On February the 17 th Max was born spontanously. He was on the ventilator for a few hours. He spent two months in the Nicu. During these months he suffered a few apneas, nec that fortunately was controled on time, hernias and now he suffers a mild bpd and is at home with oxygen therapy. Max is considered a miracle, because he survived and grew during 8 weeks with very little amounts of amoniotic fluid.
