By Hilary, Birmingham, AL USAI am finally writing my PAP (pregnancy after PROM) story! A brief history - my first pregnancy was FT, no complications, my second pregnancy was my PROM pregnancy. My water broke at 27wks and after 2 weeks of total hospital bedrest, Owen was born at 2 1/2 lbs at 29wks. The cause for my PROM was not determined.
. Delivery at 39 weeks.

Owen was a healthy 4 year old and my first was 6 when I became pregnant for the third time. My PAP was treated as "high-risk" and I was quoted a 30% PROM recurrence statistic. They could not determine why I PROMmed with my second baby - so they monitored me closely for cervical changes and infections (BV, GBS and UTI) in my PAP. I did test positive for GBS and was treated with antibiotics from week 24 until week 28 and again at delivery. I had some cervical bleeding around week 21 that was a ruptured blood vessel on the cervix. Other than those two events, I had a problem free pregnancy and did not even need any bedrest!! I am happy to report that I delivered a FT, healthy baby GIRL a few days before my due date. I feel truly blessed to be able to enjoy a "normal" pregnancy again after my PROM pregnancy and with the perspective from the NICU and PROM, I truly appreciated the "miracle" of having a healthy baby.
