By CJ, Jefferson,GA USAMy water broke at 24 weeks and 3 days during the middle of the night. I didn't actually realize what had happened and waited until my OB's office opened and scheduled a 10am appointment. As a "precaution" the midwife performed an ultrasound then immediately ran out of the room. After I dressed she gave me the news and immediately sent me to the hospital. I walked was admitted and expected to deliver within 48hrs. A NICU nurse came in and gave me the full details of what to expect if my baby was born early. He most likely would not live and if he did to be prepared for several physical and mental disabilities. I cried all night until my dr came in the next morning and broke down exactly how long I needed to keep my baby in for him to be safe. So thankfully I never actually went into labor and I spent 70 days laying in a hospital bed before finally being induced at 34weeks. My baby (4lbs 4oz) spent 18 days in the NICU but came home weighing 4lbs 12oz. He's now over a year old and is a perfectly healthy toddler.
PROM at 24 weeks + 3 days. Delivery at 34 weeks.
