Story added: 2013-06-18
During the pregnancy, I had bleeding episodes at 9 and 11 weeks. Each time the doctor looked for a SCH hematoma but none were to be found. Just when I was starting to relax and think everything was going ok... my water ruptured completely at home. I was hospitalized overnight and told there was little hope for survival. I would either get an infection, go into labor, the cord would prolapse, the placenta would abrupt, or make it to viability only to have baby's lungs undeveloped. There was less than 2cm of fluid after the pprom. I spent the next week on modified bed rest and praying for a miracle. 6 days after the pprom, I started bleeding like a period. I went to see my OB who hung his head...he just knew what this meant... the placenta was starting to abrupt and this was very likely the beginning of labor. He gave me his cell number and said to call him if anything happened. The next morning I woke up in labor. I went to the hospital, the cord prolapsed, and then gave birth to Matthew Michael at 19 weeks 6 days. He was 12 oz and 9.75 inches long. He never took a breath, but lived for just over an hour from the oxygenated cord blood. We baptized him, held him, and loved him as much as we could. It's almost been a week and I am still so sad, though I know he is in heaven. I have so much to look forward to there!
