IVF, initially a triplet pregnancy; 13 wks selective reduction of twins babies A&B sharing placenta, continued pregnancy of singleton baby C with own placenta; 14 wks flu-like with fevers, possible chorio? never confirmed, no antibiotics given; 17-18 wks concern for low amniotic fluid, put on modified bed rest; 20 wks confirmed pprom with no measurable amniotic fluid for remainder of pregnancy, put on strict bed rest at home, advised that termination of pregnancy was a reasonable option; 23 weeks admitted to hospital because of mild contractions & passed the reduced 13 week fetuses A&B (perinatologists had indicated the reduced fetuses would be reabsorbed in uterus, not passed beyond cervix as they were in my case at 23 wks); 23-30 weeks strict hospital bed rest, allowed to get up for bathroom and 5 minute shower per day; 23+5 wks 1st round of steroid shots, 26+2 wks 2nd round of steroid shots; NO infection throughout hospitalization; ~28 weeks put on continuous IV magnesium sulfate to stop preterm labor; 29+4 weeks began to develop eclampsia (burning epigastric pain, liver enzyme labs elevated, hyper-reflexes); 30+0 wks delivered via C-section bc of eclampsia; Caitlyn Hope born at 1 lb, 12 oz with pulmonary hypoplasia and pulmonary hypertension, in NICU for 73 days and counting; was on high frequency ventilator and nitric oxide for ~1 month, conventional ventilator for 3 weeks, currently been on C-PAP for 3.5 weeks. Now she is 4 lbs, 5 oz and continuing to grow and make progress.
