By Julie, Corona, CA USAMy first pregnancy with my sweet daughter was so uneventful. Maybe a way to make up for the fact that my husband was deployed during her birth. However, at about 20+ weeks with my dear son, I began having some difficulties. My blood pressure kept rising, gestational diabetes, etc. etc.
PROM at 33 weeks + 4 days. Delivery at 33 weeks + 6 days.

I woke up on April 10, 2001 and felt 'wet'. I went to the restroom and was convinced that I had not woken up in time to make. So, I went back to sleep for a bit and when I sat up, I knew differently. My friend drove me to the hospital, 45 minutes without traffic...over an hour now! He had a bit of water left and they were just going 'to see what happens'. About 30 hours later, I went into labor. Things progressed as expected and they had no plans to stop it. At 11p.m. I was 5cm...at 11:15p.m. I felt the need to push but figured it couldn't be because I had just been 5cm. After the sensation didn't let up, the nurse checked me again to find that his head was crowning. Things went crazy. She was calling for everyone, calling the NICU team, etc. The doctor arrived at 11:40p.m. and with one push out came this sweet little CRYING boy. I had never been so happy to hear a baby's cry.
Christopher weighed 4 1/2 lbs. 18". Room air, no complications. He is now 13 months, weighing 19lbs. 4ozs. and 32 1/4" long. He is our tall, thin boy who has been walking for about 6 weeks.
I wish all of the stories on this board had the same outcome. My heart breaks with every loss I read about. Thanking God everyday for the precious ones in my life, skcgmom
