By Sara Vega, Nutley, NJ usaMy husband and I have been married for 16yrs. We have been TTC for the past 12yrs. We had an unsuccessful IVF 4 years ago and a successful one this past May. I was on partial bedrest. All my doctor ever said was I want you to rest. I was never put on Bedrest and I wonder if it would have made a difference. My water broke in my sleep on Oct 16 at 10 pm. They rushed me to the hospital and I was put on an IV and antibiotics and given steroids for the babies' lungs. Doctor said babies could decide to come out early or perhaps we could hopefully hold on for a few more days which would make a world of a difference. At that point the babies would be 24 weeks, a much better survival age for premies. The next night I sent my husband home at 9:30 pm. At about 10 or so I was feeling something but not quite sure what it was. I was having bad gas pains but they had put the monitor and checked my cervix and everything looked fine! Anyhow, by 11:30 I asked a nurse if it was possible for one of the baby's feet to stick out, she went to get a nurse and a doctor and sure enough the dr. yelled out for an emergency c-section. I had 2 seconds to call my husband back to the hospital. I was put under general anesthesia and not even 1/2 hour later it was all done. Angelica Clarisse was removed by c-section and Victoria Faith was vaginally delivered. Their kidneys were not entirely developed and they had high levels of pottasium. Victoria also had some brain hemmoraging. Angelica and Victoria lived 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 days respectively. We took pictures with them and the nurses created memorial boxes for each. We had their bodies cremated and yesterday was the Memorial Mass. I'm still trying to deal with the question of why the Lord would let me finally get pregnant and then take my Angels away from me..................Hopefully, we can try again next year. At the cost of these IVF's, I'm not sure if we'll ever get another opportunity......
PROM at 23 weeks + 3 days. Delivery at 23 weeks + 4 days.
