My name is Debbie and I experienced PPROM with my fourth pregnancy. My first three pregnancies went perfectly, but this fourth one was TOTALLY different. I just did not feel right from the very beginning. My blood pressure began to get higher as the weeks went by, there was protein and sugar in my urine and I began to dilate at 32 weeks. I was put on bedrest as much as possible. At 36 weeks my water broke and labor soon followed. After 12 hours of labor Jason entered the world at 8lbs. 9oz. He looked so perfect but he was not. He had respiratory distress syndrom (hyaline membrane disease), he could not suck well or hold down food if it went into the stomach first. In the NICU, he was placed on a ventilator, tube fed into the intestine as to bypass the stomach, and placed under bili-lights. I am happy to say that all has turned out well, by the grace of God, and Jason has just turned three. He has not suffered many ill effects from his prematurity. He does,however, continue to fight chronic asthma. We have just had baby #5 and all went well both with the pregnancy and delivery. There is hope for a healthy pregnancy and full- term baby after after PPROM.
