By Kendra, San Antonio,TX USAMy son TJ was born at 23 weeks and 5/7 on January 10, 2001. He weighed 1 lb 7.8 ounces and should have been born on May 5th. He spent exactly 90 days in the NICU and was discharged on April 10th weighing 5 lbs 3 ounces. He is currently still on oxygen and has an apnea monitor. He has had many complications along the way and survived many conditions the doctors didn't think he could. Currently we are working with physical therapists to watch his development because he suffered Grade III and IV IVH's. He also had Stage 3 ROP eye disease and may need glasses as early as 6 months of age despite successful laser surgeries. We are so blessed to have him survive all that he has and to finally get him home. We hope and pray that he develops the best he can and has the best quality of life that he is able to have.
