By Shannon, Gainesville, GA USAWith my first pregnancy, I only had two complications - both were due to dehydration. Because of the dehydration, I ended up in labor. But with a shot each time along with fluids, the labor stopped. But on the night of my 36th week, my water broke. Even though it was my first pregnancy, there was no doubt my water had broken. It came as a big gush. I went to the hospital immediately. I was put on a monitor. After a few hours of no contractions and no dialation, I was given pitocin. Within a couple of hours, I was having terrible contractions! I don't know how I did it, but I managed to do it without any medication. I had a total of 21 hours of labor. After pushing for 3 hours, a healthy 7 pound, 3 ounce boy was born. He had no problems whatsoever and went home with me 2 days later. He is now almost 8 and doing great.
