By Theresa Dennee, Watertown, NY USAHi my name is Theresa and I lost a total of 4 boys before I
PROM at 25 weeksDelivery at 26 weeks.
Story added: 2000-11-20
had Isaiah 6/26/00. My last son that died before I got pregnant with Isaiah I PROM with at 17 weeks and had him at 18 weeks due to Incompetent Cervix.
Then January of this year we found out we were pregnant again I was scared that I was going to lose this baby just like the other ones. I also have an Incompetent Cervix and had a cereclage 2 times already and they didn't work and I also have ANA ( Anti Nuclear Antibobies) that attack the immune system and treats the pregnancy like it is a forgein object. Well I went to the doctor's at 8 weeks and they did an ultrasound and normal things at a visit. The doctor told me that thing were very poor on my behave and that I would probably end up losing this baby also. I choose to contiue on with the pregnancy and I said to my self I will have this baby. Everything was going good and I went back at 12 weeks this time we were to talk about the time to put the cerclage in and when I will be pulled out of work. The doctor agree that 13 weeks will be the best time to place the cerclage in and he took me out of work at 12 weeks. He told me that after the cerclage was to be placed I will remain on bedrest until the 7th month to make sure everything is going to be alright and to decrease my chances of preterm labor and possible another lost.
Well on March 27th I had the cerclage placed everything went
well and did so until I hit 21 weeks I started contracting
but they went away on there own (Thank God) I said. I went
back to the doctor's at 22 weeks and they did an ultrasound
and told me my cervix was dilated 1 cm. They told me I was not going to make it to term that I would be delivering in a
couple weeks and they were going to start the steriods shots
at 23 weeks and 1 every week until I hit 34 weeks or delivered which ever one came first.
I made it another week for my steriod shot and that night I
had to go back down to the hospital because I started
contracting and they didn't stop this time so they admitted me to the hospital on complete bedrest with no shower or bathroom use. They hooked me up to an IV and gave me Mag sulferiane To stop the contractions which it did. Everything went well after that until Father's Day I PROM again this time at 25 weeks the cheif of residents ask me if I wanted them to take the cerclage out or leave it in because I was not contracting or anything I said leave it in as long as we can. He and my doctor agreed with me. I made it another week and 1 day before delivering at 26 weeks.
Isaiah James Dennee was born weighing 1lb and 15oz he was 14
inches long and only spent 9 weeks and 1 day in the NICU. He
is a very healthy little boy and now weighs over 8 lbs and
growing. I don't know what I would do without him now my family is complete. I also have a daugther 7 years old fullterm no problems.
I also have a email group out for women with Incompetent
Cervix and we now have 17 members to our group. If you would
like to join the address will be at the bottom of the page.
