By Cherry Vi Castillo, Las Pinas City PhilippinesMy pregnancy was uneventful until I experienced pPROM around 1:30am of June 9, 2012, when I was 19 weeks along. I felt a sudden gush while I was sleeping. I had my check-up in the morning and via ultrasound, my waters were gone. My OB told me to be prepared to deliver at 19 weeks. I was in shock. I was admitted to the Manila Doctors Hospital where I was given antibiotics. My OB gave us the doom and gloom talk, told us to choose between mother and baby, but saying in the same breath that the baby would not survive and even if the baby did, she would have severe deformities and complications. They induced me for 48 hours but the baby did not come out. We finally went home after a week, and for one week I was on antibiotics. After that, I was without antibiotics for 2 weeks. I asked my OB many times, I believed I needed antibiotics but she didn't prescribe them. So of course I got an infection!!! On July 7, 2012 we went to St. Luke's Bonifacio Global City and because of infection, my baby had to be delivered via c-section by my new OB (of course I switched doctors!) Dr. Valerie Tiempo-Guinto. Our beautiful baby Mira Love Marie lived for only 7 hours and 36 minutes. Thanks also to Dr. Baby Bautista, our neonatologist. I would like to thank the admins of this site, it was very helpful during the time I was undergoing my pPROM journey. If anyone who gets to read this is from the Philippines, and wants to get information from me, please feel free to email me at cscastillo@gmail.com.
