Hege's PROM Story

I was having what I thought was a 'perfect pregnancy' with no problems at all. The only thing I remember was a little bit of bleeding around the time of implantation, and an infection alert at around week 12 that was tested again and found to be false alarm (although looking back I don't know if I trust those results). I didn't realize one of my twins had a ruptured membrane or that the leaking I experienced actually was amniotic fluid (I thought it was urine), so it took about 3 weeks before it was discovered. I went into labor at 22+6 weeks and they tried to stop it with fluid. It looked good for a while until I suddenly got a fever and bloodtests showed high levels of white blood cells. The infection alarm was triggered and they gave me pretty much all types on antibiotics they could come up with through my IV, but with no improvement. A few hours later I gave birth to my twins, and they passed shortly after. More details and posts about coping day by day on my blog. http://hegemarie.blogspot.ca
