Having experienced a pprom loss in the past, we did everything we possibly could during this pregnancy. I had a cerclage, we started 17P shots at 16 weeks, I stayed in a wheelchair if I had to go somewhere to keep pressure off the cervix, but otherwise I was on bedrest... But we made one mistake. We had sex the day I turned 17 weeks. I started bleeding pretty heavy after that. I called my doctor who asked me to come in immediately. I almost passed out when she told me there was not a drop of water in the sac. She told me I would go into labor and my baby would be born within 24-48 hours. She suggested admitting me, removing my cerclage, and inducing. She said my little one had no chance. While I understood that I was going to have another loss, I was not ready to make the decision to terminate. My baby was still alive. I went home, and I did VERY strict bedrest. I used a bedpan and didn't even get up to use the restroom. 24 hours went by... and there was no labor. 48 hours... nothing. My goal was to hold on to viability, even if it meant there would be other problems. I searched online and met up with others who had Ppromed and had delivered living children (some with problems, but alive and well). I knew there was a chance, even if it was small. I held out hope, and I stayed in bed with my pelvis elevated to prevent the cord from prolapsing which I realized was still possible with the cerclage. She was a fighter, and I told her every single day that I wouldn't give up if she wouldn't give up. After almost 3 weeks (halfway to viability), her cord prolapsed. I used my doppler to listen for her heartbeat but only found my own. We discussed our options, knowing birth was imminent. I stood up, took a shower, and induced my own labor. Then I called my doctor and told her that the cord was out and there was no heartbeat... and I was in labor and on the way to the hospital. They met me there and confirmed the cord was out. They did a sonogram where we saw the last few weak beats of her heart. My second little angel was born July 21, 2011.
