By Kimberly, Deltona, FL USMy water broke at 21+4 weeks. The Dr's never suggested termination but did talk to me about viability. I was admitted into the hospital and given antibiotics. I was sent home on bedrest and antibiotics and the plan was to admit me at 24 weeks. When I reached 24 weeks the Dr's did not admit me since they believed I had resealed. I was given steroid shots and sent home on bedrest. I managed to hold on until 26+6 when my water broke again. This time I was admitted into the hospiursetal and was told I would be induced at 34 weeks. My fluid varied from 3-7. March 16, 2012 I was 32+4 weeks. I woke up and the nurse had come in to do the fetal monitor. The baby had not moved as much. Her heart rate did not vary much at all and the nurse had the Dr. come in and check. I was 1cm dilated and was having no contractions. Within minutes I started having contractions every 3 minutes. It was decided I would have a c-section. Suddenly her heart rate dropped to 80. They immediately rushed me to the OR and I was put to sleep and an emergency c-section was done. I was glad they put me to sleep as I was alone and terrified. Lauren was born weighing 3 lbs. 7 ozs. and 16.75 inches. She has no medical problems. She is still in the NICU after 4 weeks due to her still learning how to eat. The pprom road is rough and I still struggle emotionally. I am grateful my daughter survived. I believe there is hope and the success stories gave me the hope I needed.
