By Laura Mitchell, Oxfordshire UKI prom'd with my first baby at 20+3, all a big shock as had just had my scan 3 days before and all was ok. My previous history was 2 pre cervical cancers that resulted in part of my cervix being removed but the hospital chose to ignore the letter from my gynie advising of a stitch to keep baby safe. When it happened I was told I would labour within 3 days and that I should terminate but I refused and was on bed rest in hospital until I naturally went into labour at 23+5. Even though I'd had sterorids our little Max only survived for 37 minutes before we kissed him goodbye.
PROM at 20 weeks + 3 days. Delivery at 23 weeks + 5 days.

I was lucky to fall pregnant again 5 months later and this time it was a totally different story. I had my stitch at 13 weeks and saw my consultant every month and then when every fortnight from 30 weeks. The stitch was due to be removed around 37 weeks but I naturally went in to labour at 35 weeks. Gracie is now a very happy 9 month old little girl.
I really believe that if I had the stitch in my first pregnancy then things would be different and maybe our little Max would still be here now. We are lucky that his memory lives on in Gracie.
