Story added: 2010-10-28
Hi, after finding out i was pregnant for the 3rd time i was very happy. In my 1st pregnancy i unfortunately miscarried at 19 weeks after bleeding from about 8 weeks into pregnancy, i was quite young and it came as a complete shock an di took it pretty hard. but with the help and support of my family and friends i got through it. My 2nd pregnancy was far easier and was pretty much plain sailing, i went to 42 weeks wen i had to be induced and my son was born a very healthy 7lb 14oz by emergency caesarean and is now a happy, healthy 2 year old. My 3rd pregnancy was by far the worst and for this i required alot of extra care. things were goin very well until my waters broke at 19+5, i was so scared and expected the worse as my first pregnancy had miscarried in the 19th week also. but after 5 days in hospital everythin seemed fine and i still had an active baby with a strong heartbeat growing inside me. As i was now at high risk of infection i was ordered to have appts twice a week to constantly monitor my pregnancy, at every appt things seemed fine the only problem was that my water never replenished and at my last detailed scan at 24weeks i had no water at all. my consultants told me this was expected and that as evrythin else was fine and baby was growing well all we could do was wait until baby was born to see how developed their lungs were. All my twice weekly appts were going well until i started havin contractions at 26 weeks, after going to hospital and being examined they found that i had cord prolapse (umbilical cord was coming down through cervix) i was rushed into emergency surgery and my son was delivered at 26 weeks weighin 2lbs. Unfortunately he was very poorly due to early water breaking and only lived for 14 hours, he passed away in my arms on 23rd October 2010. i took alot of hope and comfort from some of the other stories but understand that not all cases can have a happy outcome. I wish all mothers and fathers going through this evry success and hope reading my story may help in 1 way or another.
