I came across this site while
searching the web one night and this
stories helped me through my pain. So
I decided to share my story...I
started IVF treatment in June 2003,
they retrieved 17 eggs, 13 fertilized,
3 transfered. I was sent home for
bedrest for 2 days. With high hopes I
went back to work and returned to my
normal daily routine. 2 weeks later
blood tests confirmed that I was preg.
I heard my baby's heartbeat at 7
weeks. They released me to go to my
regular gyn. MY pregenancy was the
best anyone could ask for, no morning
sickness no aches and pains no
anything all. All of my ultrasounds
went smoothly and I heard my baby's
heatbeat 3 times. I was on top of the
world! At exaclty 18 weeks I was at
work and I felt some slight cramping
ang a little backache I thought
nothing of it, I brushed it off as
normal preg. symptoms. I went home and
rushed in the house to use the
bathrooom when I did I felt a big gush
followed by blood clots! I was scared
to death. I called my doctor But it
was his his weekend off so his fill in
doctor called back and told me to go
to the Er and get evaluated. Well, I
went 12-19-03 at 6:30pm and they stuck
me in a room. Noone came to check on
me and my on call doctor did not even
show up to come and see if I was ok.
finally at 12:00, the Er doctor showed
up and examined me when he did I
passed a huge blood clot. He left the
room without saying anything. I was
stuck in the room still. At 3:30am
they finally decided to check for a
heartbeat, well the training nurse
made the mistake of listening to my
heartbeat instead of the baby's, I
felt a wave of relief come over me.
Then the senior nurse came to check
and she didn't hear anything so they
left me alone once again. Then at 5:00
they decided to give me any
ultrasound. Once again the ultrasound
tech. said nothing. I was wheeled back
down to the Er. and there they told me
that I lost my baby and I was going to
be induced. I finally got to my room
at 6:00 Sat. morning. I was
devestated. My husband was in New
Jersey when my water broke and he got
on the highway as fast as he could. He
came in at about 10:00 that morning
and I told him what had happened. I
was in labor from 6:00am till 7:00pm I
felt the labor pains and everyhing
they keep giving me pain meds. but it
wasn't working, come to find out my IV
was halfway out. I had my baby at
7:15pm they told my it was a boy when
in fact it turned out to be a girl.
Finally my on call doctor came in to
push the placenta out and he left. I
was realesed the next day 12-21-03. I
came home severly depressed as this
was my first preg. I had a lot of
support and yet I just wanted to be
left alone. 3 days later I tried going
back to work when I did I had the
exact same pains that I had before,
this time I called my doc. right away
and he was shocked to learn that I had
a m/c over the weekend and his
partener did not inform him. He told
me to go back ot the Er and He would
be waiting for me when I got there,
and sure enough he was. When He
examined me he found that his partner
had left the placenta inside me and I
had been walking around with it in my
body for 5 days! He gave me an
emergenancy D&C, (It was x-mas eve,
and I was back in the hospital). After
my surgery I was put in my room to
rest. I woke up x-mas day in the
hospital depressed and blue, but glad
to be alive. I was allowed to go home
that night. It has been a week since I
had my baby and not a day goes by that
I don't think about her . I miss her
so much and everyone wants me to just
get over it. Even though I had a
nightmare first preg. I am looking
foward to starting my FET in March. No
one can understand the hurt and pain
that I feel for my daughter Macala
Strickalnd, I hope that by sharing my
stoy it will help me gain some of my
strenth back. Thank you all listening
to my story
