When I was 30 weeks pregnant with my
second baby, my water broke and gushed
out as I was doing some housecleaning.
I freaked out and immediately called my
midwife. She advised me to induce
labor after a few hours if I didn't
start on my own. So after a few hours
I started taking castor oil to induce.
I still wouldn't start labor. My
midwife checked the baby's vitals and
said the baby was fine, but suggested I
go to the hospital. My husband and I
decided to ask a few more midwives for
their advice, after being checked by
another midwife she assessed that I did
indeed have my water and membranes
back, my waters re-accumulated
themselves. So she suggested carrying
to term, which is always best if
possible. Within the next 12 weeks, my
waters broke and reestablished
themselves 5 times. My NEW midwife
still shakes here head when she thinks
about it, she doesn't know what caused
it and there was no infection. I have
recently learned that PROM like mine
may be caused by weak membranes, which
may be just a vitamin deficiency.
While not all PROM cases are like mine,
it is worth it to see if your waters
will re establish themselves on their
own, if so, I suggest going on with
your pregnancy! But if there is
another complication, I suggest doing
what is best for the baby. Always the
baby, not the doctor or anybody else,
